“Eco-Reps are a new student employment role. They’re basically peer educators on environmental and sustainability topics,” says Dr. Mary Whitney, Chatham’s director of University Sustainability. “For the first campus dinner of the year, when everyone eats together, they came in and taught composting.”

We caught up with Chatham students from across the United States to see how they’re taking advantage of all the ‘Burgh has to offer while adapting to a major life change.

Eighteen Chatham students attended the Emerging Leaders Overnight Retreat at Camp Guyasuta, about 30 minutes north of Pittsburgh. The goal was to fine-tune their understanding of what leadership really is, hone their leadership skills in the great outdoors, make friends, and step outside of their comfort zones.

BOTC is a week-long competition between the seniors, juniors, sophomores, and first years that calls on each class to exhibit creativity, cooperation, and Chatham pride.

I asked O’Donnell for an interview for a number of reasons—including two unusual international experiences she’s done while at Chatham and the fact that she singlehandedly started the cheerleading squad—but was not expecting this.

Sophie Costan, Biology '16 spent the summer completing a Psychiatric Genetics Internship at Penn State College of Medicine in Hershey, PA. We caught up with Sophie to see what she got out of her summer internship experience. 

Chatham Head Women’s Volleyball Coach Dylan Lasher has always been a cat. In elementary school, he was a Tiger. In high school, a Bobcat. At Thiel College, he was a Tomcat. He played for their volleyball team, but it was as assistant student coach for Thiel’s women’s team that he saw the Chatham Cougars in action.

“The class is rewarding enough that you don’t want to skip it. I got my wisdom teeth out and two days later, I was there, with ice packed onto my face,” says first-year student Elena Boyle.

We sat down with Cindy Kerr and Shannon Brenner, respectively director and coordinator of the PACE Center for Academic Support and Disability Support Services, to learn how students can get the most out of their time hitting the books. Here’s what we found out:
