Meet Your Chatham Student Life Staff

Calling all new students—we’re introducing some of the key players on campus who will help ease your transition into college and serve as resources throughout your entire Chatham experience. Below, we introduce Amanda Oaks-Christman, Coordinator of Student Affairs; Angela Delfine-Mechler, Associate Director of Residence Life; and Simmone Bell, Associate Director of Student Engagement. Though they don’t comprise the entire Student Affairs staff, they represent three different sections of the team and are thus great resources and question-fielders.

What can students come to you for?

Any questions they may have! If I don’t know the answer or am not the right person, I’ll help them figure out who is. Specifically, students should see me for questions about medical cancellations/withdrawals, the Student Emergency Fund, or our Cougars Care system.

What is your favorite aspect about working with students?

Seeing them grow into themselves during their time at Chatham.

What is your favorite Chatham tradition or event on campus?

I love serving up breakfast for dinner at Moonlight Breakfast.

Anything else students might need to know?

I’m here to help! Feel free to reach out to me directly at a.oaks@chatham.edu or stop by my office in Student Affairs.

Hobbies: Reading, hiking, biking, and spending time with my dog and husband
Book(s): The Midnight Library by Matt Haig

What can students come to you for?

Questions about Residence Life as a whole, questions about the Residential Communities, and information on how to become a resident assistant (RA). I coordinate all of our community development processes and our RA program.

What is your favorite aspect about working with students?

I love seeing students start their academic careers unsure of who they are and then seeing them when they graduate years later. Watching students become confident in themselves and their place in the world is an important thing to be a part of. It’s more impactful when you are a part of that process.

What is your favorite Chatham tradition or event on campus?

I have only been here since January, so I haven’t seen much yet! I do love that we are a small campus, so I personally know each of my colleagues in Student Affairs and most other employees on campus.

What is your favorite aspect about working with students?

I like being able to help others and my day to day helping of students always looks different.

What is your favorite Chatham tradition or event on campus?

Spring Formal because my staff runs it and I get to see what happens from start to finish. Seeing their work pay off is always rewarding.
