Chatham Mourns Death of Student Jordan Haas

Dear Chatham community,

It is with a heavy heart that Chatham University shares that a Chatham student, Jordan Haas, passed away on May 4, 2026.

Jordan majored in psychology and was a member of the men’s volleyball team. He was also as a beloved son, grandson, brother, and friend to many.

Receiving news like this is difficult at any time, however, Chatham understands that it can be even more difficult now that students have left campus for the summer. Despite this challenge, it is important that to continue to care for and support each other in as many ways as possible.

The Counseling Center, located on the ground level of Woodland Hall, is available for students throughout the coming days. Chatham community members can also call 412-365-1282 or email CounselingCenter@chatham.edu to schedule appointments or receive community referrals as needed.

Students also have access to Talk Campus, a free mental health support app where they can talk to peers across the world about your experiences. Faculty and staff members can access support resources through Life Solutions. Additional grief resources can be found online at What’s Your Grief?

The Chatham community extends its sympathies and prayers with Jordan’s family during this time.

Sincerely,

Chris Purcell, Ed.D.

Vice President of Student Affairs, Dean of Students
