Applied Data Science Analytics:

If you love studying numbers and trends in order to make informed predictions, we’ve got a major you need to explore—applied data science analytics. Data science is an emerging field that blends computer technology, statistics, and business to manage, organize, and analyze the massive amounts of data produced by modern technologies every day. Employers look for these skills to help solve important problems and create new insights in industry, healthcare, government, non-profits, and beyond. If you want to be on the cutting edge of the workforce, this major is the perfect place to begin.


Arts Management:

Maybe you don’t love creating art but you’re constantly immersing yourself in it or maybe you do love creating art and you’re looking to get a better handle on the business side of the art world. The arts management major is an interdisciplinary program combining courses from business and the arts and is designed to prepare you for leadership roles within the artistic community by training you in strategic planning, management, and marketing. When you major in English at Chatham, you will be immersed in the literary imagination through studying English, American, and world literature. You will also develop skills in writing and literary analysis, as you learn about literary genres, historical periods, and theories. In the exercise science major, you’ll be prepared as a professional practitioner in a variety of fields, including exercise physiology, exercise and fitness training, hospital-based and corporate wellness programming, and sports medicine, as well as for graduate study in physical therapy, medicine, and other health science programs. What is the study of food and where can I sign up, you say? The Bachelor of Arts in Food Studies (BAFS) was born out of our Master of Arts in Food Studies (MAFS) program and offers a blend of practical skill-building and perspectives on food and agriculture through the analysis of social, cultural, economic, environmental, and historical topics. Students are prepared for multi-faceted careers and professional engagement in a wide variety of sectors, with the skill sets to address the practical, economic, community, and social justice issues that are a hallmark of contemporary food systems jobs. Chatham is also home to the Center for Regional Agriculture, Food, and Transformation (CRAFT), which is working to impact food systems and the food industry throughout western Pennsylvania.


Immersive Media:

As a relatively new major to Chatham, our Bachelor of Arts in Immersive Media (IMM) is an interdisciplinary program that is already having a major impact. One of our current IMM students just completed an internship with NASA—check it out. The immersive media degree equips students with knowledge of virtual reality and augmented reality technology, architecture, 3D modeling, game development engines, writing, and design thinking to prepare them for careers in immersive media creation. Students will blend industry-standard design practices and artistic methods with cutting-edge technology to create experiences in gaming, architecture, software, entertainment, and a variety of other industries.
