Online Learning + ChathamU

September 15 marks National Online Learning Day, a day for celebrating and recognizing the benefits of online learning as well as the students and professors who participate in it. In 2020, more of our students have had to adapt to online learning platforms than ever before. In order to celebrate and perhaps make life a bit easier for our online students, we are highlighting the many perks that the Office of Academic & Accessibility (OAAR) and the Office of Career Development have to offer students working in the virtual classroom. Get acquainted with online learning at ChathamU—

First things first, what are the benefits?

Online education is becoming increasingly popular, especially in these times. Here are a few of the perks:
—Flexibility of participation means that you can take courses at your own pace.
—Save time and money compared with the costs of commuting and parking. It can be better for the environment, too.
—Online courses allow you to develop your technical skills.
—There’s often a wider range of networking opportunities in a virtual space.

What if I need help?

The Office of Academic and Accessibility Resources (OAAR) assists all Chatham students with their academic and disability support needs, including online students. If you want to make an appointment with OAAR, visit their online scheduler. Your intake appointment can be conducted over the phone.

What does OAAR offer?

OAAR offers a wide range of free, confidential resources tailored to fit students’ academic needs both in-person and online. Here are a few examples of OAAR services:
—Disability accommodations
—Course tutoring
—Paper writing assistance with the OAAR Writing Center
—Coaching on time management, study skills, test taking strategies, stress management, and more

And what about job & internship opportunities?

The Office of Career Development is offering virtual, email, and phone appointments throughout the Fall 2020 term. If you’re looking to build out your resume this term, check out some of these services offered by Career Development:
—Internship guidance
—Practice interviews and interview prep
—Welcome Aboard mentorships with Chatham alumna
—Competency development
—Virtual workshops, programs, and networking events

Happy National Online Learning Day! We invite you to explore the many benefits of online degrees and online learning in Fall 2020 via our website.
