Search process and timing update from the co-chairs

Dear Students, Staff and Faculty,

The Presidential Search Co-Chairs recently provided a confidential update to the Board of Trustees on the status of the search at last week’s February Board of Trustee’s meeting. We write today to also share an update on Chatham’s presidential search with the larger Chatham community.

As of February 6th, which was the deadline for application submission, the Committee received applications of interest from over 100 candidates. The Committee is now in the most intensive phase of its work, which is the assessment of candidates. This involves reviewing application materials, evaluating candidates based on our leadership profile, selecting candidates for our two rounds of interviewing and identifying candidates that will advance to our third and final round of interviewing. We are delighted to report that the candidate pool recruited by our search partners, Academic Search – which included a number of recommendations from you – was strong, with applicants representing a range of backgrounds, experience and areas of expertise.

The Committee’s work will continue in the months ahead and culminate in a recommendation of one candidate to the Board of Trustees. As noted previously, this process is a highly confidential one, and we expect that our next communication to you will be when Chatham’s next president is announced this spring.

In the meantime, if you have any questions about the presidential search, please visit the search website or reach out to us at ChathamSearch@gmail.com.

Best,

Joanne Laipson ’82, Trustee
Brooks Broadhurst, Trustee
