Lisa Lambert appointed Chatham University’s President

Chatham University’s Board of Trustees has announced the appointment of Dr. Lisa Lambert as Chatham University’s 21st president. A member of the Chatham community since 1985, Dr. Lambert has served as Chatham’s interim president since June, after serving as provost and vice president of academic affairs and in several academic, faculty, and administrative leadership positions at Chatham.

“Chatham has been a central part of my life for many years, and I am truly grateful and honored to be named Chatham University’s president,” said Dr. Lambert.” As President, I look forward to collaborating closely with our students, faculty, staff, and alumni as we focus on the university’s mission and Chatham’s continued engagement in Pittsburgh and the western Pennsylvania region.”

Chatham’s Board of Trustees selected Dr. Lambert at a special meeting to assess Dr. Lambert’s interim president performance and feedback from a presidential transition committee of the Board.

“Dr. Lambert’s extensive experience and deep commitment to Chatham University make her the ideal choice as our permanent president,” said Kent McElhattan, Board of Trustees Chair. “Lisa’s leadership has already proven invaluable during her time as provost and then as interim president, and we are confident that her vision and dedication will further strengthen our university community as we continue to advance our mission.”

Dr. Lisa Lambert joined Chatham as a biology faculty member in 1985. She has also served as chair of the science department, founding program director for MS Biology, associate dean for academic affairs, assistant vice president of undergraduate learning, provost and vice president of academic affairs, and interim president. A member of Phi Beta Kappa, she is recognized for her research in iron homeostasis and has done sabbaticals at the University of Pittsburgh, Duke University, and the Harvard University School of Public Health, Department of Genetics and Complex Diseases.

Originally from Fort Mitchell, Kentucky, Dr. Lambert has a B.S. in biology from Furman University and a Ph.D. in genetics from Indiana University-Bloomington. She resides in Wilkins Township with her husband, Dr. Michael Lambert. They have two children: Matthew, a computational scientist at UT-Knoxville, and Shannon, a manager at Toast.
