Jason Edsall, Ph.D., Named Dean of Chatham University’s College of Health Sciences

Chatham University is proud to announce that Jason Edsall, Ph.D., was recently selected as the new dean of the College of Health Sciences.

Arriving at Chatham in 2017, Edsall has served as an associate professor of athletic training, the chair of the Department of Health and Human Performance, and program director of the Master of Science in Athletic Training program.

“We are thrilled to welcome a trusted colleague into this new leadership role within the College of Health Sciences,” said Matt Redinger, Ph.D., provost and vice president of academic affairs. “Jason has the right experience, a commitment to student success, and a deep understanding of the college’s mission to prepare healthcare professionals who make a meaningful difference in the fields and communities they serve.”

As a faculty member at Chatham, Edsall successfully increased enrollment in the Exercise Science and Athletic Training programs, with Exercise Science becoming one of the University's largest majors. His research includes studying the effects of nutrition and substances on human fitness, as well as injury-prevention protocols among college athletes. His work has been published in the International Journal of Exercise Science and the peer-reviewed journal Nutrients. Edsall earned his BS in Athletic Training from Slippery Rock, an MEd from Salisbury University, and a Ph.D. in Athletic Training from Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions.

Edsall said he is “honored and energized” to serve as the next dean of the College of Health Sciences at Chatham.

“Now is the perfect time to deepen collaboration, broaden interdisciplinary connections across colleges, and foster a culture that supports our community's thriving,” he said. “I’m eager to partner with faculty, staff, students, and colleagues across the University as we shape the future of the College and advance the mission of Chatham together.”
