Chatham University and University of Pittsburgh to Offer Dual-Degree Program for Engineering Students
Chatham University and the University of Pittsburgh are proud to announce a new dual-degree program that allows students to complete three years of undergraduate education at Chatham before pursuing an engineering degree at Pitt.
The agreement gives students the chance to obtain a world-class STEM education (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) at two Pittsburgh higher-ed institutions located just down the street from each other.
This dual-degree program is ideal for students pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics or a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at Chatham. After finishing their studies at Chatham, they can pursue a variety of Bachelor of Science in Engineering programs at the University of Pittsburgh:
Bachelor of Science in Bioengineering
Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering
Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
Because many courses in the science and mathematics programs at Chatham can transfer to Pitt as engineering requirements, many of those students could complete this dual-degree program in five years.
“This partnership empowers students to combine a strong foundation in the sciences with outstanding engineering training, all within Pittsburgh’s supportive academic community,” said Mary Besterfield-Sacre, the senior associate dean for academic affairs at the University of Pittsburgh’s Swanson School of Engineering.
“We are happy to finalize this agreement, which builds on Chatham University's historic strength in the sciences and provides a wonderful opportunity for our students in the University of Pittsburgh's high-quality engineering program,” said Lisa Lambert, Chatham’s provost and vice president for academic affairs. “This is one more example of the strength of the higher education community in Pittsburgh and Allegheny County."
