Chatham recognized for high student voter participation

This past year Chatham participated in the National Study of Learning, Voting and Engagement, a study that provides insights and statistics from the 2020 national election on student voter information, such as field of study, age, sex, and race. According to the report, Chatham had a voting rate of 86%, an increase from the 76% voting rate in 2016.

The overall voting rate of the 2020 election was not the only impressive improvement discussed within the report. From 2016 to 2020, there was an 1.1% increase in the number of students registered to vote, leading to a total of 88.4% registered students on Chatham’s campus.

The study was conducted by the Tufts University Institute for Democracy and Higher Education, and can be read in its entirety here.
